India Criticizes Pakistan at UN, Labels It a ‘Failed State’

India condemned Pakistan at the UN Human Rights Council for raising Jammu and Kashmir issues, calling it a ‘failed state’ which propagates falsehoods. India asserted its sovereignty over the region, citing significant progress made while highlighting Pakistan’s governance failures and human rights abuses. India encouraged Pakistan to redirect its focus on internal matters instead of its fixation on India.

India has strongly criticized Pakistan after it raised the Jammu and Kashmir issue at the UN Human Rights Council. In its Right of Reply during the 58th Regular Session, India labeled Pakistan as a “failed state” reliant on international aid that perpetuates false narratives from its military-terrorist complex. Kshitij Tyagi, Counsellor at India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, expressed that it is regrettable that time is wasted in the Council on baseless allegations from Pakistan.

Tyagi further characterized Pakistan’s claims as hypocritical, highlighting the instability and incompetence evident in Pakistan’s governance. He reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir, along with Ladakh, will always remain integral parts of India and cited significant political, social, and economic advancements in the region over recent years as evidence of progress.

Emphasizing Pakistan’s inadequate human rights record, Tyagi stressed that Pakistan, which faces numerous internal issues including the persecution of minorities and state-sponsored terrorism, has no standing to offer lectures on governance. He urged Pakistan to shift its focus from its obsession with India to addressing its own governance challenges and justice for its citizens.

Tyagi also criticized Pakistan for misusing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as a propaganda tool, stating that such tactics lack credibility. He concluded by reiterating that India is committed to democracy, progress, and ensuring dignity for all, values that he suggested Pakistan could benefit from understanding better.

In summary, India has firmly responded to Pakistan’s claims regarding Jammu and Kashmir at the UN, labeling Pakistan a failed state that spreads misinformation. By addressing various aspects of governance and human rights, India reinforced its stance on territorial integrity and urged Pakistan to focus on its internal challenges rather than antagonism towards India.
