President Joseph Nyuma Boakai addressed government officials at the Executive Mansion, urging them to serve with integrity and dedication to Liberia. He stressed that public officials are not accountable to him personally but are responsible to the citizens of Liberia at large, stating, “Once you take a public office, you are not working for me, it is the Liberian people you are working for.”

The President highlighted the importance of their actions in fostering national progress, insisting they must serve with the fear of God. He remarked, “The way you commit yourself, the way you represent the country, we ask you to do it in the fear of God.” Boakai emphasized that effective management of national resources is essential for development.

The ceremony included the commissioning of officials, such as Central Bank Governor Henry F. Saamoi and several ambassadors. Boakai reminded diplomats of their significant role in enhancing Liberia’s image abroad, stating, “As diplomats, you are carrying the image of the country. You are going to represent Liberia, and you must serve in the interest of every Liberian.”

Governor Saamoi expressed his commitment to revamping the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) and ensuring economic stability. He stated, “We have planned to implement policy measures that strengthen monetary policy and build strong international reserves, which are crucial for preserving the Liberian dollar.”

Dr. Al Hassan Conteh, Liberia’s Ambassador to the United States, voiced the diplomats’ gratitude and commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. He communicated, “This ceremony highlights the significance of diplomacy in advancing Liberia’s interest and contributing to global peace and development. We will uphold the value of diplomacy while serving Liberia in our respective countries.”

President Boakai’s address highlights the importance of integrity and dedication among public officials in Liberia. By urging them to serve in the interest of the people, he establishes a clear expectation for their commitment to national progress. The commissioning of various officials and ambassadors emphasizes the vital role of effective diplomacy and financial governance in shaping Liberia’s future.
