Bank Al Maghrib has alerted the public to a fraudulent investment platform falsely linked to it. The bank noted that this content misuses its identity and promises deceptive financial gains. BAM is committed to protecting its reputation and has previously tackled similar scams, working with security agencies to enhance prevention measures.
Bank Al Maghrib (BAM), Morocco’s central banking authority, has officially cautioned the public about a fraudulent investment platform that falsely claims affiliation with the bank. This deceptive media content misappropriates the bank’s identity and the likeness of its governor, presumably leveraging artificial intelligence to generate its misleading appearance. BAM has emphasized that the platform’s financial gain assurances are completely fabricated and reiterated its commitment to taking necessary actions to uphold its reputation and rights.
In the past, BAM has frequently had to issue similar advisories to combat various fraudulent initiatives targeting the public. For instance, in 2021, the bank refuted claims regarding mobile messages suggesting that individuals visit bank branches to claim a prize check. Additionally, several years earlier, BAM highlighted the importance of vigilance against electronic financial fraud, urging partner banks to adopt preventive measures.
To fortify its defenses against such threats, Bank Al Maghrib has entered into a cooperation agreement with Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). This collaboration aims to enhance security protocols and facilitate the integration of advanced digital services that are associated with Morocco’s electronic national identity system. The agreement also focuses on safeguarding the bank’s physical locations and ensuring the secure transport of funds throughout the country.
Bank Al Maghrib has issued a warning regarding a fake investment platform that fraudulently uses its identity, stressing the importance of public vigilance against such scams. The bank has previously addressed similar fraudulent claims and continues to work collaboratively with security authorities to enhance its operational security and protect its integrity. Public awareness and caution are essential to mitigating the risks posed by these deceptive schemes.
