TEHRAN – Iran’s diplomat Seyed Kamal Kharrazi announced the country’s willingness to share its nuclear knowledge with regional partners. In an interview with Egypt’s Al-Masry Al-Youm, he linked this collaboration to historical colonialism in West Asia, particularly criticizing the establishment of Israel as a source of instability in the region.
Kharrazi condemned U.S. and Israeli policies, suggesting they foster division and war to justify intervention in West Asia. He highlighted the enduring ties between Iran and Egypt and emphasized that political relations hinge on mutual decisions by their leaders, notwithstanding past conflicts.
Discussing the ideology of Resistance, Kharrazi stated it remains a core element of the region’s struggle, regardless of setbacks. He reinforced that sanctions aimed at halting Iran’s peaceful nuclear progress are ineffective.
Kharrazi viewed the term ‘Middle East’ as a product of colonial ambitions, attributing Western interference to a desire to control regional energy resources. He called upon countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia to enhance regional cooperation and resist external influences.
Regarding Iran’s relations with Egypt, Kharrazi expressed openness to strengthening ties, countering claims of Iran’s declining influence. He also acknowledged China’s role in the recent rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia as vital for enhanced economic, security, and military collaboration.
Kharrazi accused Israel of pursuing territorial expansion through the displacement of Palestinians, warning that this could lead to increased pressure on regional states for normalization. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, stating, “Iran considers it a duty to support Resistance forces fighting Israeli occupation.”
Amid ongoing conflicts, Kharrazi noted that despite the destruction caused by Israel’s military actions in Gaza, the objectives of dismantling Hamas and freeing captives were not achieved, resulting in a ceasefire after 15 months of violence.
