Iran’s Nuclear Program Under IAEA Supervision, Says AEOI Chief

Iran is fully cooperating with the IAEA regarding its nuclear program, which is under UN supervision. IAEA monitors are conducting regular inspections, and an upcoming report will address safeguards and the JCPOA. Eslami calls for the IAEA to act without political bias. Iran’s nuclear measures can be reversed if the E3 fulfill their obligations under the JCPOA.

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, announced that Iran’s nuclear program is fully under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Eslami emphasized that IAEA monitors are actively inspecting Iranian nuclear facilities as per the established schedule.

He noted that the upcoming IAEA report will consist of two sections: one addressing safeguards issues and the other related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), according to UN Resolution 2231. The IAEA has consistently verified that Iran’s nuclear activities are peaceful. However, the European Troika—composed of Britain, France, and Germany—has exerted pressure on the IAEA to produce a detailed report on Iran’s nuclear activities.

Eslami expressed hopes that the IAEA would uphold the rights of all nations, act impartially, and not adopt politically motivated stances. He reiterated that the Agency should not serve as a mechanism to exert pressure or engage in unlawful actions against any nation, including Iran.

In response to a resolution passed by the Board of Governors at the request of the E3 in November, Iran has implemented new steps related to its nuclear program. Iran maintains that these measures are reversible contingent on the E3 fulfilling their JCPOA commitments under the 2015 agreement.

In summary, Iran asserts that its nuclear program is under IAEA oversight, with ongoing inspections affirming its peaceful intentions. Eslami’s remarks highlight concerns regarding political pressure from European nations on the IAEA, emphasizing the need for impartiality and adherence to legal frameworks. Iran’s nuclear steps remain adjustable, depending on compliance with the JCPOA by other signatories.
