Kafouri, known as one of the most affluent areas in Khartoum, was a significant RSF base, including the home of Abdel Rahim Daglo, RSF deputy leader and brother of commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo. The military’s successful operation to reclaim Kafouri further reduces RSF influence in the capital, indicating ongoing efforts to secure full control over Khartoum North, an area populated by nearly one million residents.
The greater Khartoum region includes Khartoum North and Omdurman, located across the Nile. A military source disclosed that government forces are advancing toward central Khartoum, almost two years after the RSF initially captured the city during the conflict’s onset. Eyewitnesses reported explosions and gunfire in southern Khartoum, signaling the intensifying military confrontations.
These developments highlight one of the military’s most impactful offensives since the onset of clashes between army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and RSF leader Daglo.
