Otobong Nkanga has received the 2015 Yanghyun Basis Artist Award in Seoul, Korea. Ms Nkanga is the primary African recipient of the distinguished award. Nkanga was born in Kano, Nigeria in 1974. She studied on the OAU, Nigeria, State, Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam, and accomplished Superior Research within the Performing Arts at DasArts, Amsterdam , The Netherlands.
She has participated in various worldwide exhibitions, together with the Lyon Biennale (2015), the Sao Paulo Biennale (2014), the Berlin Biennale (2014) and the Sharjah Biennale (2013), and has had solo exhibitions at a quantity artwork establishments, equivalent to Museum Folkwang, Germany; M HKA, Belgium; Municipal Museum, Netherlands; and Kadist Basis, France.
