A human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has urged the Federal Authorities to make sure that the killers of 16 Nigerian Military personnel who had been on a peacekeeping mission to Okuama group in Ughelli South Native Authorities Space of Delta State are dropped at justice.
A commanding officer, two majors, a captain, twelve troopers and a civilian had been killed within the ambush on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
The our bodies of the deceased had been mentioned to have been hidden by the attackers.
Some Okuama youths on Wednesday reportedly ambushed one Anthony Aboh, a resident of Okoloba, and took him hostage.
The neighboring communities have been embroiled in a communal land dispute since January 27, 2024, when some youths from Okoloba allegedly ambushed and killed three Okuama youths, Igho Meshack, Godspower Awusa and Okiemute Agbabuleke, over a century-long land dispute. within the space once they returned from Okwagbe.
However reacting to Sunday's growth, Adeyanju described the ambush and killing of the troopers as a 'cowardly act'.

“It’s with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that I lengthen my honest condolences to the households of troopers who misplaced their lives in Delta State. “These courageous women and men who defend us daily had been on a noble mission of peace, selflessly dedicating themselves to the service of our nation and striving to carry stability and concord to our nation and the Okuoma group in Bomadi Native Authorities Space of Delta State.
“Might the souls of our fallen heroes discover everlasting peace and tranquility. Their braveness, dedication and selflessness will ceaselessly be etched in our hearts and minds. We shall be ceaselessly grateful for his or her service and sacrifice.”
