The Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee (EFCC) has arrested a former Minister of Commerce and Trade, Charles Chukwuemeka Ugwuh, for alleged conspiracy and mortgage fraud value about N3.6 billion.

In accordance with a press release by the top of Media and Publicity of the fee, Dele Oyewale, the ex-minister was arrested along with Chief Geoffrey Ekenma on January 11, 2024 at No. 2, Musa Yar Adua Method, New Owerri, Imo State.

“Nonetheless, based on the petitioner, the suspect has failed to satisfy his obligations to the financial institution and all makes an attempt to get him to repay the mortgage have been futile. The suspects might be delivered to justice as soon as investigations are accomplished.”
