Germany known as on Sunday for the established order to be maintained in Taiwan after Vice President Lai Ching-te gained the presidential election, stressing that any change should happen “peacefully and by mutual settlement.”

The Overseas Ministry congratulated voters and candidates on Saturday's vote “in addition to those that have been elected,” with out mentioning Lai by title.
