Speculation around the next Chief Minister centers on former MP Parvesh Verma, who notably defeated Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency.
Other frontrunners for the Chief Minister position include Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva, and Bansuri Swaraj, the daughter of late Union Minister Sushma Swaraj. Satish Upadhyay, recognized as the BJP’s Brahmin advocate in Delhi, is also under consideration. This follows the BJP’s successful return to power, securing 48 out of 70 assembly seats in the February 5 elections after previously winning only 11.
The AAP, aiming for a third consecutive term, faced decline due to controversies surrounding Kejriwal, including issues related to the liquor excise policy. As a result, the AAP suffered a dramatic loss, acquiring just 22 seats, a significant drop from their past elections in which they secured 67 and 62 seats respectively. The Congress party also faced a complete defeat, failing to win any seats for the third consecutive election.
