Isaac Kuria, a key suspect in the murder of Kasipul MP Charles Were, has been arrested near the Kenya-Tanzania border while attempting to flee. This arrest brings the total number of detainees in the case to eleven, including Were’s bodyguard and driver. Investigators are probing financial connections among suspects to uncover motives behind the assassination.

A key suspect linked to the assassination of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were has been arrested near the Kenya-Tanzania border. Isaac Kuria, also known as “Kush,” was captured in Isebania as he attempted to escape the country following the murder incident that transpired in Nairobi. This arrest comes as a significant development in an ongoing investigation that has led to multiple detentions.

Kuria is suspected of being the person who actually pulled the trigger in the shooting that took place during broad daylight on Nairobi’s Valley Road. The police believe he monitored the late MP’s movements closely before launching a violent ambush that ultimately led to Were’s death. After the assassination, Kuria reportedly fled the scene, abandoning the firearm used in the crime which has since was seized by law enforcement.

Following the murder, Kuria’s flight to evade capture involved several locations, including Mihang’o and Narok, before reaching the border area. Investigators believe he had been in touch with associates back in Tanzania, planning for a possible escape. Intercepted communications played a crucial role in pinpointing his location for the police.

This recent arrest boosts the total number of individuals detained in connection with the assassination to eleven. Among those already in custody are Were’s bodyguard, Allan Omondi, and his driver, Walter Owino. William Imoli, who has been identified as a significant financier and organizer of the assassination plot, is also among the arrested.

Investigations are continuing, especially concerning the financial motivations behind the assassination. Authorities are scrutinizing bank transfers and communication records between those arrested to clarify the depth of the conspiracy.

Key figures in this investigation could potentially include prominent local individuals, like businessman and politician Phillip Aroko, as well as Ebel Ochieng, the Director of the Lake Basin Development Authority—both of whom face allegations of contributing financially to the crime.

The late MP Were was laid to rest in Kachien village within his constituency on May 9, a tragic end to a life cut short in a violent act that has sparked ongoing local and national concern.

The arrest of Isaac Kuria represents a critical moment in the case surrounding Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were’s assassination. With eleven suspects now detained, including individuals close to the MP, investigators are deepening their inquiries into the financial aspects of the plot. The involvement of notable community figures raises questions about the broader implications of the crime, as the investigation continues to unfold in Kenya.
