Alfred has opted out of defending her World Indoor 60m title, instead focusing on improving her speed endurance. She has already set national records for the 300m and 400m distances. After winning Saint Lucia’s first Olympic gold medal in the 100m last year in Paris, she also earned a silver in the 200m. Coach Edrick Floreal has emphasized that her training this off-season aims to enhance her performance in the 200m event.
The Ansin Sports Complex is famous for its fast track; in 2023, USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson clocked a remarkable 10.57 at this venue under challenging wind conditions. Abby Steiner also shone by winning the 200m with a world-leading time of 22.23 seconds.
