Julien Alfred, the Olympic 100m champion from Saint Lucia, will open her outdoor season on April 5 at the Miramar Invitational. Focusing on speed endurance this season, she has set records in the 300m and 400m, and will compete in various events leading up to the World Championships. Community support is strong for her as she aims to shine on the track.

Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred is set to kick off her outdoor season on April 5, marking the beginning of her journey towards the 2025 Tokyo Olympics. The 23-year-old Olympic 100m champion will participate in the Miramar Invitational, as confirmed by TC Management, the event organizers.

Alfred has opted out of defending her World Indoor 60m title, instead focusing on improving her speed endurance. She has already set national records for the 300m and 400m distances. After winning Saint Lucia’s first Olympic gold medal in the 100m last year in Paris, she also earned a silver in the 200m. Coach Edrick Floreal has emphasized that her training this off-season aims to enhance her performance in the 200m event.

The Ansin Sports Complex is famous for its fast track; in 2023, USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson clocked a remarkable 10.57 at this venue under challenging wind conditions. Abby Steiner also shone by winning the 200m with a world-leading time of 22.23 seconds. While it remains undecided which events Alfred will enter, her hometown supporters are eager to back her wherever she competes.

A Facebook post from the Saint Lucia Association of South Florida urged fans to come out and support Alfred, stating, “Get ready to bring the heat and make some noise…” Enthusiastic fans are encouraged to wear the national colors of blue, yellow, black, and white, and to bring their energy for an electrifying atmosphere to show their pride in Alfred.

The Miramar Invitational 2025 is recognized as a Silver event within the World Athletics Continental Tour. Following this, Alfred will compete at the Bislett Games in Oslo on June 12 and the Bauhaus Galan in Stockholm on June 15, with the World Championships slated for September.

Julien Alfred is ready to embark on her outdoor season on April 5 at the Miramar Invitational, aiming for success as she prepares for the 2025 Tokyo Olympics. With a focus on speed endurance and recent national records, her ambitions are supported by her home community. The event promises to showcase Alfred’s capabilities in a fast-paced environment, which could further her Olympic aspirations ahead of the World Championships.
