The Đà Nẵng International Marathon 2025 is set to take place from March 21-23, featuring over 7,000 participants from 72 countries, a record for the event’s 12-year history. Nearly 3,000 of these are international runners, marking a 42% increase from 2024, thereby providing a unique marathon experience complemented by Đà Nẵng’s beach setting.
Participants can choose from various distances including a 24km full marathon, a half marathon (21km), and a fun run (5km), with an added emphasis on children’s events comprising the ‘Ronny Dash’ distances of 500m and 1.5km. Prominent athletes such as Kenya’s Shadrack Kipkemboi and Vietnam’s top runners like Phạm Ngọc Phan are among the registrants for the premier 42km track race.
In a shift from previous years, the event will eliminate the 10km category to focus more on full and half-marathon runs. The race coincides with the 50th Anniversary of Đà Nẵng’s Reunification Day, which enhances its significance. March is optimal for runners due to the favorable weather, making it an ideal time for international competitors and their families.
Organizers expect to raise a record amount of $20,000 for charity, largely thanks to Dennis Zaborac, a US veteran and devoted participant. Funds will be allocated to several local charities, including orphanages and support organizations for victims of Agent Orange. Last year’s titles for the 42km race were claimed by Kiptoo Edwin of Kenya and Vietnam’s Phạm Thị Bình. The Đà Nẵng International Marathon is recognized as the first in Vietnam certified by both the IAAF and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
The Đà Nẵng International Marathon 2025 promises to be a landmark event with record participation and a strong charitable component. With a variety of race distances and notable athletes involved, it aims to attract both competitive runners and families, while celebrating a significant local milestone. This marathon continues to uphold its standards by receiving international certifications, thus reinforcing its reputation in the global athletic community.
