In the context of economic ties, PM Modi emphasized existing partnerships in trade and development, citing a proposal to settle transactions in local currencies and highlighting India-assisted infrastructure projects like public services and transportation. The relationship is founded on historical and demographic ties, with Indian descent individuals comprising about 70% of Mauritius’s population. India has maintained its status as one of Mauritius’s leading trading partners since 2005.
