The Niger State House of Assembly has confirmed the new chairman and commissioners for the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NSERC) following a communication from Governor Bago. Engr. The Niger State House of Assembly has officially confirmed the appointments of the chairman and commissioners for the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NSERC). This confirmation came as a result of an executive communication from Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, presented during the recent plenary session by Speaker Hon. Muhammad Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji.
Governor Bago’s actions were based on his constitutional authority under the amended 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which allows for such appointments. The confirmed appointees include Engr. Dr. Mohammed Sharu as chairman and Engr. Dr. Maiwada S. Bello, commissioner for enforcement and consumer affairs, along with Dr. Muhammad Ameen Shakur, among others.
In addition, the assembly confirmed Engr. Jiro Ahmed Mohammed as commissioner of rural electricity access management and Adamu Nagogo as commissioner of finance and administration. The speaker extended congratulations to the appointees, highlighting the importance of their experience in fulfilling their roles to enhance the development of Niger State.
