The Archbishop alarmingly characterized the youth unemployment rate, currently at 53%, as “a ticking time bomb.” He linked rising criminal activities—such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and drug abuse—to the frustrations of jobless youth. Ugorji warned that mass layoffs and corporate collapses, stemming from a harsh economic environment, exacerbate this crisis.
