Weightlifter Marie Korkor Agbah-Hughes confirmed that the federation received the injunction, mentioning that it was illegal for the election committee to continue with the election plans. She pointed out that the federation’s board had already completed their term on February 18, yet they attempted to organize the elections anyway.
In the presidential race, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, the New Patriotic Party’s Second Deputy Minority Whip, faces off against Michael Nii Yarboi Annan. Tensions escalated at the election venue between their supporters, prompting National Security officials to intervene.
While the identity of who summoned the National Security officers remains unclear, they acted to terminate the election process once order was restored at the venue.
