A delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on Development (DEVE) is scheduled to visit Tanzania from February 24-26, 2025. This mission, led by Chair Barry Andrews, aims to gather firsthand insights into Global Gateway initiatives and various development cooperation projects in the country, assessing their effects on both the economy and the populace.
The focus will be on the impact of EU investments, specifically related to sector-specific projects and the broader implications of the Global Gateway initiative. The MEPs will engage with initiatives in areas such as water and sanitation, economic development, port infrastructure, gender equality, education, and sustainable fishing practices.
During the three-day visit, the MEPs are expected to meet with Tanzanian government ministers and EU diplomatic representatives, as well as leaders from UN agencies and development banks. Conversations will include discussions on sustainable development, inter-parliamentary cooperation, and human rights alongside local civil society representatives and counterparts from the Tanzanian parliament.
