Faruque Ahmed, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), announced that Pakistan is expected to tour Bangladesh for a series of limited-overs matches around mid-2025. This follows an agreement reached during discussions with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Mohsin Naqvi. Bangladesh is also set to tour Pakistan in May for three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
In a recent statement, Faruque mentioned, “There might be a short tour in July, which we have mostly confirmed. We will inform you when we finalize it.” He also indicated that Bangladesh may participate in a future tri-series in Pakistan if the scheduling aligns appropriately.
Following Bangladesh’s early exit from the Champions Trophy, the BCB is focusing on preparations for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Faruque emphasized that the board will establish a strategy for the upcoming tournament, entrusting Najmul Abedin Faheem with leading the operational committee.
Further, with Najmul Hossain Shanto resigning as T20I captain in January, a decision regarding the new captain will be made soon, likely from recent team captains, with Litton Das being a strong candidate.
Lastly, the BCB is organizing a proper farewell for Mushfiqur Rahim following his retirement from ODIs. Faruque expressed the significance of Mushfiqur’s contributions to Bangladesh cricket over nearly two decades, highlighting his crucial role in prior tournaments like the 2007 World Cup.
