Oman participated in an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where key issues regarding Israeli actions in the occupied Palestinian territories were addressed. The Omani delegation was led by H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who reaffirmed Oman’s strong commitment to a ceasefire, a complete Israeli withdrawal, and the safe return of displaced persons, as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
H.E. Al-Busaidi pointed out the necessity for OIC member states to collectively respond to Israeli aggression. He emphasized the need for an international mechanism that can effectively protect civilians, end the siege on Gaza, and ensure accountability for violations committed by Israeli officials.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. Lejeune Mbella Mbella, Cameroon’s Minister of External Relations and the current Chairman of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, with significant participation from foreign ministers of various countries.
Oman’s delegation included notable figures such as H.E. Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al-Maskari and Minister Plenipotentiary Salem bin Mohammed Al-Busaidi, among others.
In conjunction with the meeting, H.E. Al-Busaidi held discussions with H.E. Dr. Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation. They also addressed the need for dialogue to tackle regional conflicts and promote collective security and stability.
H.E. Al-Busaidi also met with H.E. Bakhtiyor Saidov, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, to discuss diplomatic cooperation and reinforce economic, investment, and cultural partnerships between their nations. Both meetings involved various officials who contributed to discussions on regional and international issues.
Oman’s participation in the OIC extraordinary meeting underlines its unwavering support for Palestinian rights and its advocacy for effective international mechanisms to address humanitarian crises.
