In his post on X, Jaishankar expressed appreciation for the meeting and conveyed the greetings of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, Starmer shared the UK’s views regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine during their talks.
Jaishankar also met with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, where he received a warm welcome at Chevening House, expressing eagerness for fruitful discussions on mutual interests. Further engagements included meetings with the UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds. Jaishankar and Cooper discussed critical issues surrounding talent mobility and collaborative efforts to combat trafficking and extremism. Jaishankar remarked, “A good meeting with Home Secretary @YvetteCooperMP today in London. We discussed the flow of talent, people to people exchanges, and joint efforts in tackling trafficking and extremism.”
In addition to addressing security concerns, discussions with Reynolds focused on the progress of the Free Trade Agreement negotiations between India and the UK. Jaishankar’s trip, scheduled until March 9, will include further engagements in Ireland with plans to meet with Irish officials and connect with the Indian community.
