Peru’s Energy and Mines Minister Jorge Montero addressed an international audience at the “Peru Day” event, encouraging investors to prioritize the integration of mining operations within their territories to promote sustainability in the sector. He emphasized the need to replicate successful models from regions like British Columbia, Canada, to enhance mining activities safely and sustainably.

Montero highlighted the ongoing recovery of Peru’s metallurgical activities, which relies on investments aimed at leveraging valuable strategic minerals found in polymetallic and copper concentrates. In discussions with Mongolia’s Ministry of Industry head Tsevegdorj Tuvaan, Montero outlined the key points of future investments in Peru’s mining sector. He cited seawater desalination as a method to mitigate conflicts with local communities and emphasized a territorial perspective where companies attend to broader community needs beyond their immediate projects.
