On Monday, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, voiced serious concerns over Iran’s uranium stockpile, which has reportedly risen to 275 kg of uranium enriched to 60% U-235, up from 182 kg in the previous quarter. He highlighted that Iran remains the only non-nuclear weapon state enriching uranium at this level, underscoring the urgency of addressing unresolved safeguards issues.
Grossi emphasized the need for Iran to resolve these matters to ensure that its nuclear program is exclusively peaceful. He criticized the lack of progress in implementing a Joint Statement made on March 4, 2023, which aimed to enhance cooperation and allow for additional verification measures.
