On February 25, Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamed Dbeibah met with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. During this meeting, they signed multiple memoranda of cooperation aimed at enhancing collaboration between the two countries, focusing on regional stability and development.

The signed agreements include the mutual exemption from entry visas for holders of diplomatic, special, and service passports. Additionally, they established a framework for political consultation between the foreign ministries, enhancing diplomatic coordination on shared interests, along with an agreement to foster partnership in local administration and urban development between Tripoli and Mogadishu.

The two leaders agreed to form a joint high-level committee to review existing agreements, address Libya’s investments in Somalia, and boost economic and development cooperation. This committee will also focus on joint coordination regarding regional challenges, particularly in the Horn of Africa, especially with Somalia’s recent election to the UN Security Council.

Somali President Mohamud also held discussions with Mohamed Menfi, president of Libya’s internationally recognized Presidency Council. They addressed methods to promote bilateral relations and cooperation in both African and international spheres.
