The UIAA Ice Climbing World Youth Championships recently took place in Ouray, Colorado, featuring over 100 athletes from approximately 20 nations. Representing Mongolia were eight climbers, guided by coach D. Otgonkhuu, who collectively achieved a remarkable haul of eight medals, consisting of four gold, one silver, and three bronze.
Among the standout performances, key gold medalists included B. Enkhrii-Erdene in the women’s U16 category, J. Amina in the U18, and E. Nomintenger in the men’s U20. Additionally, E. Dulguun secured a silver in the men’s U18 speed category, while B. Munkhbaatar earned bronze in U20, contributing greatly to Mongolia’s success.
In team events, Mongolia triumphed in the speed category with the most points, earning them the gold medal. They also claimed bronze in the combined technical and speed event, and B. Enkhrii-Erdene made history as the first Mongolian to medal in a technical discipline at the world championships.
