Iranian Foreign Minister Advocates for Muslim Unity Supporting Palestine

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urges all Muslim nations to unite in support of Palestinian rights against US-Israeli plans for relocation. He denounces Netanyahu’s claims for Palestinians to live in Saudi Arabia, promotes dialogue among GCC states, and calls for urgent international action from the UN regarding these actions deemed a violation of international law.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized the necessity for a cohesive and strong stance from the Muslim world in support of Palestinian rights during a meeting with the Secretary General of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, at the Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat. He praised the opposition shown by Arab nations, particularly Gulf states, against the US-Israeli plans that threaten the relocation of Gaza’s population and the erasure of Palestine.

Araghchi condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks suggesting that Palestinians establish their state in Saudi Arabia instead of living in their own homeland, asserting this dismisses their sovereignty. He highlighted the urgency for ongoing dialogue between Iran and GCC nations to navigate the sensitive regional developments and enhance cooperation

In a subsequent phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Araghchi urged the UN Security Council to take a decisive stance against the US-Israeli initiatives. He argued that such proposals to forcibly displace Palestinians breach international law and are aligned with what he called genocide plans aimed at erasing Palestine from existence.

The GCC Secretary General Albudaiwi supported Iran’s call for continued interactions among the member states to address mutual interests. He also reaffirmed the GCC’s rejection of Israel’s actions concerning Palestinian displacement and welcomed Iran’s suggestion for holding an emergency meeting of Muslim foreign ministers to confront this issue collectively.

Araghchi formally requested an emergency gathering of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers to respond to the colonial efforts to displace the Gaza Strip’s inhabitants. His proposal has reportedly received substantial backing from OIC member states, with the meeting anticipated to occur shortly.

The Iranian Foreign Minister calls for unity among Muslim nations in supporting Palestinian rights and condemns Israeli relocation plans. He seeks decisive international action through the UN against these proposals, which he regards as breaches of international law. The Gulf Cooperation Council has expressed its solidarity with these pursuits, supporting collaborative efforts among Muslim countries to address the crisis in Gaza.
