First Andes Silver Partners with SPF Drilling for Upcoming Santas Gloria Project

First Andes Silver Ltd. has contracted SPF Drilling S.A.C. for a 2000-meter diamond drilling program at the Santas Gloria Project in Peru. The drilling is set to commence next month, building on high-grade silver intercepts from the 2024 campaign, particularly focused on the San Jorge vein. The initiative promises to explore deeper sulphide zones that had previously been untouched.

Vancouver’s First Andes Silver Ltd. has taken a significant step forward with the announcement of a new drilling campaign. They’ve chosen SPF Drilling S.A.C. for a 2000-meter diamond drilling operation at their entirely owned Santas Gloria Project in Peru. Notably, operations for this drill campaign are slated to kick off this month, with drilling expected to officially begin around July.

Colin Smith, who serves as both CEO and Director of First Andes, expressed optimism about the partnership with SPF. He highlighted the contractor’s strong reputation in Peruvian terrain and their emphasis on safety and professional capabilities. Smith noted, “We are very pleased to secure SPF Drilling for this phase of drilling at Santas Gloria,” as they embark on a mission to probe deeper into the mineralized zones demonstrated in their 2024 drilling results, which revealed high-grade values at shallow depths.

The 2025 drilling program aims to consist of about 15 to 17 drill holes, following up on successfully high-grade near-surface discoveries from the previous year. The campaign will focus on the promising San Jorge vein, which stood out last year due to its impressive results. Higher-grade sulphide zones are now the target for drilling, as these areas were previously undrilled even as the vein itself stretches over 2.6 km at the surface, with only a fraction assessed so far.

Previous drilling results from 2024 vastly exceeded expectations with notable silver intercepts from the San Jorge vein, underscoring the project’s unexplored potential. The vein’s high-grade silver intervals were indicative of a robust mineralization system that the firm is eager to investigate further.

According to the available data, several drill holes from 2024 yielded promising intervals. For instance, hole FAS-24-003 reported a remarkable 7.4 meters with over 224 grams per ton silver equivalent, spotlighting the area’s prospects. Other holes also uncovered significant silver, lead, and zinc, suggesting a valuable mineral endowment still waiting to be fully explored.

As part of their commitment to quality, First Andes employs rigorous standards for their drilling activities. The firm practices quality assurance with samples sent to ALS Peru S.A., where they ensure accurate and reliable results. All core recoveries have reportedly surpassed the critical 90% mark, ensuring that the data collected is robust.

SPF Drilling S.A.C. brings extensive expertise to the table, having been established in 2007. The Lima-based firm is known for its diamond drilling services and other geological testing. Their commitment to environmental responsibilities aligns with First Andes’ vision of sustainable mining practices.

As First Andes Silver propels back into the mining scene with this drilling program, there’s a mix of excitement and caution from the company. The upcoming drilling — the first comprehensive examination of Santas Gloria since modern techniques were employed — is a potentially transformative moment for the firm as they aim to unlock further value from the untapped mineral wealth of the region.

First Andes Silver is gearing up for a robust drilling program at the Santas Gloria Project, with SPF Drilling tapped to undertake approximately 2000 meters of diamond drilling. Following a successful campaign in 2024 that revealed promising silver grades, this upcoming effort centers on deeper sulphide mineralization in the San Jorge vein system. All results will be closely monitored as the company aims to tap into its considerable exploration potential.
