BAGHDAD – Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty announced that the recent preparatory meeting of the Arab League’s Council reached a consensus on key issues ahead of the upcoming Arab Summit in Iraq. In comments made to Al-Qahera News Channel, he indicated that the ministers agreed on a draft resolution aimed at facilitating the reconstruction of Gaza, along with another supporting Sudan.
The discussions also centered on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, where ministers reaffirmed Egypt’s historical rights to water. Furthermore, Arab ministers pushed for a draft resolution regarding Syria, advocating for an all-inclusive political process, and approved a resolution to bolster legitimacy in Yemen while ensuring maritime safety in international waters.
When asked about the ceasefire agreement involving the Houthis in Yemen, Abdelatty expressed optimism about its potential positive effects on navigation in the Red Sea. He pointed out that international companies have reacted favorably to the news, signaling a sense of renewed hope for stability in the region.
Concerning Gaza, the Foreign Minister highlighted Egypt’s significant role in brokering a ceasefire alongside Qatar. Emphasizing that ending violence in Gaza is a top priority, he underscored the urgent need for humanitarian aid to reach the besieged Strip amid dire conditions.
