IDF spokesperson Avichai Adrei indicated that the military controls roughly one-third of the Gaza Strip, using these areas as a “defensive security zone.” The escalation of ground operations will depend on the prevailing operational circumstances, with plans to dismantle Hamas infrastructure both above and below ground.
Despite a ceasefire and prisoner exchange achieved in January 2025, tensions escalated with active fighting resuming on March 2, following a six-week truce.
