Stuart Law Appointed Head Coach of Nepal Cricket Team

Stuart Law has been appointed as Nepal’s head coach for two years, succeeding Monty Desai. Law, a former Australian batter with extensive coaching experience, aims to lead Nepal in upcoming matches, including the qualification for the 2027 World Cup. He previously coached the United States and achieved a significant upset against Pakistan during his tenure there.

Stuart Law, a former Australian cricketer, has been appointed as the head coach of Nepal’s national cricket team on a two-year contract. This decision follows the Cricket Association of Nepal’s search for a new coach after terminating the contract of Monty Desai in February, who had led the team to the previous year’s T20 World Cup.

Law, aged 56, succeeded over notable candidates including West Indies great Shivnarine Chanderpaul and former Sri Lanka coach Dav Whatmore. Prior to this role, Law was the head coach for the United States but was dismissed six months into his contract after a surprising victory against Pakistan at the T20 World Cup.

His coaching experience spans several teams, including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, in addition to his coaching role at Middlesex. Law’s playing career includes 54 One-Day Internationals and one Test match for Australia. Nepal is set to compete against Scotland and the Netherlands in Cricket World Cup League 2 in June, a key event in the qualification process for the 2027 50-over World Cup.

Stuart Law’s appointment as head coach of Nepal marks a strategic shift for the national team following their prior coaching changes. With extensive international coaching experience and a notable playing career, Law is expected to guide Nepal through crucial upcoming tournaments, including World Cup qualifiers.
