The Fiji Police Commissioner has pledged a firm crackdown on drug-related activities in Koro Island, urging community discipline. Recognitions from Koro High School’s cadet training program were highlighted, encouraging students to uphold their island’s reputation.
The Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, has announced a stringent plan to combat drug cultivation and trade on Koro Island. Addressing the Koro High School Pass-out Parade, he made it clear that the police will actively pursue and penalize those involved in these illegal activities. He called on the community to foster discipline and avoid engagement in drug offenses for a safer environment.
Tudravu stressed, “The Fiji Police Force will not rest until there is no marijuana on this island. If you’re cultivating it, we will find you, until you give up on these illegal activities.” He advised students on the necessity of self-discipline and avoiding unlawful behavior, particularly linked to drugs.
During the event, the success of cadet training at Koro High School was acknowledged. Uluikade House received the award for the best platoon, while Apenisa Ledua from Koroibola House was named the Male Platoon Commander. Awards were also given to the best male cadet, Simeli Cokanasiga of Kuitarua House, and the best female cadet, Melissa Koroi of Uluikade House, with Sevai House winning the Best Overall award. The baton of honor was awarded to the Parade Commander, Jona Vibose, the school’s head boy.
