Stanbic Bank Kenya is upgrading its core Temenos banking system in partnership with Orion Innovation. The upgrade includes transitioning to the R23 cloud platform and migrating to the Java-based framework, TAFJ. The project features extensive integrations and local code conversions aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and customer services.
Stanbic Bank Kenya is set to upgrade its core banking system using Temenos technology with support from Orion Innovation, its regional implementation partner. Having initially launched Temenos’ core banking in 2010, the bank aims for modernization with this latest upgrade, transitioning from version R17 of the Temenos Transact application to the cloud-based R23 platform.
The upgrade will also include migration from the older TAFC application framework to the more advanced Java-based TAFJ framework. This change is expected to enhance portability, scalability, and overall performance. The project entails over 90 integrations and about 6,000 local code conversions planned to ensure a smooth transition.
To expedite the upgrade timeline, Stanbic Bank Kenya will utilize Orion’s test automation tools and services. This initiative aligns with the bank’s ongoing digital transformation journey, as confirmed by Alex Siboe, head of technology. He stated that this upgrade aims to improve operational efficiency and better address customers’ evolving needs in the digital landscape.
