He received credentials from their ambassadors during separate ceremonies at MalacaƱan Palace, emphasizing their potential role in enhancing relations with the Philippines.
During his meeting with Colombian Ambassador Edgar Rodrigo Rojas Garavito, Marcos expressed the belief that opportunities exist to explore various sectors for mutual benefit. He noted that both nations share a commitment to lasting peace and development.
As for Cambodia, Marcos expressed a desire to bolster bilateral ties, recognizing the strong foundation already in place. Ambassador Sin Saream affirmed his dedication to enhancing cooperation for the prosperity of both Filipinos and Cambodians.
In discussions with Ukrainian Ambassador Yuliia Oleksandrivna Fediv, Marcos reiterated the Philippines’ support for peace initiatives in Ukraine. He acknowledged the importance of dialogue and offered help for Ukraine’s pursuit of peace, despite geographical distance.
Colombia, which established diplomatic relations with the Philippines in 1946, hosts around 100 Filipinos. The Philippines and Cambodia have maintained diplomatic ties since 1957, with approximately 7,500 Filipinos residing there. Ukraine, having established relations in 1992, currently has around 24 Filipino residents.
