Iran Condemns Israeli Actions in Gaza and Lebanon, Calls for Regional Cooperation

Iran’s foreign minister condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon, labeling them as genocide and aggression supported by the U.S. Araghchi called for immediate international action to stop these violations and safeguard regional sovereignty. Ongoing conflicts, ceasefire breaches, and the need for regional cooperation are crucial topics discussed in recent diplomatic engagements.

Iran’s foreign minister has denounced Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza, calling them a form of genocide, while also condemning its aggression towards Lebanon. Abbas Araghchi expressed in a call with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fawad Hussein that such violations occur with U.S. support. He urged the international community, particularly regional and Islamic nations, to intervene and halt Israel’s actions, which threaten regional security.

Araghchi highlighted the dangers posed by the U.S. misusing military bases and airspace in the region to conduct aggressive activities against surrounding countries. He emphasized that nations in the area should safeguard their sovereignty by preventing foreign military presence that could escalate insecurity. He urged his regional counterparts to be vigilant against provocations from the U.S.

Addressing U.S. sanctions on Iran’s oil sector, Araghchi dismissed the claims made by U.S. officials aimed at pressuring Iran as unfounded and lacking credibility. The Iraqi foreign minister shared his serious concerns regarding the unrest in the region and underscored the urgent need for collaboration among regional entities to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian population.

In another conversation with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, Araghchi remarked that Turkey’s internal issues are manageable and expressed confidence in the Turkish authorities’ ability to navigate ongoing developments. Reflecting on the Israeli-Hamas conflict, he noted that after a ceasefire deal in January, Israel had failed to fulfill its objectives and has resumed strikes on Gaza, violating the truce established earlier.

Despite a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah on November 27 after heavy losses, Israel continues to breach the agreement by maintaining forces in Lebanon and conducting frequent assaults. This pattern illustrates the ongoing instability in the region, with significant implications for peace and security.

Iran’s condemnation of Israel’s actions highlights ongoing regional tensions and the perceived complicity of the U.S. in these conflicts. Abbas Araghchi’s calls for immediate international response underscore the urgent need for collaborative efforts among regional nations to establish security and support suffering populations, particularly Palestinians. The failure of ceasefire agreements and continued military operations further complicate the quest for peace.
