Army spokesperson Nabil Abdallah stated that the military’s efforts commenced after the recapture of the presidential palace, with a declared aim of achieving “full liberation” of the area. Key locations seized include the Central Bank, state intelligence headquarters, and the Sudan National Museum.
Despite these territorial gains, Sudan remains divided, with the military solidifying its hold over the east and north while the RSF retains control over western Darfur and parts of the south. Meanwhile, reports indicate that paramilitary attacks in remote areas, such as North Darfur, have resulted in civilian casualties, further complicating the situation.
The conflict, which escalated in April 2023, saw national institutions in Khartoum’s center being overtaken and looted by paramilitary forces.
