JCSC Delegation Enhances Defense Partnerships During Seychelles Visit

The Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) undertook a regional study tour on March 21, 2025, focusing on enhancing regional security through improved industrial capacity and defense partnerships. Led by Deputy Commandant Brigadier David Chesire, the delegation visited the Republic of Seychelles where they were welcomed by President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House in Victoria.

Brigadier Chesire expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the President, highlighting the strong relations between Kenya and Seychelles. He also acknowledged the hospitality and assistance provided by various Seychellois institutions during their visit.

In his address, President Ramkalawan advised the student officers on maintaining focus, loyalty, and patriotism. He urged them to “remain true to your countries and your commitments,” stressing the importance of their dedication to future security and prosperity.

The delegation included notable officials such as Major General Michael Rosette, the Chief of Defence Forces of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces, along with senior military officers. Accompanying Brigadier Chesire were Colonel Lois Wataka, the Kenya Defence Attaché, faculty members, and student officers from the JCSC representing various African nations including Kenya, Burundi, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia.

The visit by the JCSC delegation to Seychelles highlighted the significance of regional security and defense collaboration. The interactions emphasized the strong bilateral relations between Kenya and Seychelles and underscored the necessity of military dedication in fostering a secure future for their respective nations.
