Vietnam Establishes Strong Partnership with Mozambique, Says Ambassador

Vietnam considers Mozambique a priority partner in Africa, emphasizing strong historical ties and the intention to expand cooperation in areas such as mining and telecommunications. Ambassador Trần Thị Thu Thìn officially presented her credentials to President Chapo, who welcomed her and highlighted the success of their joint ventures. Future collaboration will involve increasing Vietnamese investments and supporting the local Vietnamese community.

Vietnam considers Mozambique a key partner in Africa, emphasizing a commitment to strengthening their historical friendship and cooperation. The Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique, Trần Thị Thu Thìn, articulated this priority during her credential presentation to President Daniel Francisco Chapo on March 19 in Maputo.

President Chapo congratulated Ambassador Thìn on her new role and expressed confidence in her ability to enhance bilateral relations. He acknowledged the positive trajectory of Vietnam-Mozambique relations over the last fifty years, highlighting Movitel, a joint venture between Vietnam’s Viettel Group and Mozambique’s SPI company, as a cornerstone of their partnership. Chapo encouraged further Vietnamese investment in Mozambique’s economy.

Ambassador Thìn pledged to bolster the existing friendship and diversify cooperation, particularly in emerging sectors such as mining, telecommunications, information technology, and digital transformation. She also encouraged the Mozambican government to assist the Vietnamese community in enhancing bilateral ties.

Additionally, the Ambassador shared greetings from Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and State President Lương Cường to President Chapo following his election as the Chairman of the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) and inauguration as the President. She extended an invitation from Vietnamese leaders for President Chapo to visit Vietnam in the near future.

Vietnam’s engagement with Mozambique showcases a commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in various sectors. The establishment of meaningful partnerships, highlighted by successful joint ventures, demonstrates the potential for mutual benefit and development.
