Sergei Shoigu, the Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, is currently in North Korea for a meeting with leader Kim Jong-un. This visit, occurring on March 21, marks his second trip to Pyongyang within six months, as reported by South Korean news agency Yonhap. Russian state media indicates Shoigu is expected to meet with both Kim and other high-ranking North Korean officials.
In addition, earlier this month, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko visited North Korea, meeting with Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui. Their discussions reportedly centered on enhancing “political contacts at the high and top levels,” emphasizing the strengthening ties between the two nations.
