Addressing the status of Nigeria’s missions, Tuggar assured that essential services such as immigration and military affairs continue to function effectively, allowing diplomatic operations to persist. He also responded to concerns regarding Chinese visas, clarifying that Nigeria is not collaborating with China on arresting individuals, attributing issues to undocumented travel during the pandemic.
On the national security front, Tuggar reported significant progress against Boko Haram, noting that the group has been severely degraded and a safe corridor has been established in Borno. He reaffirmed Nigeria’s role in regional peace initiatives, referencing past contributions to stabilization efforts in Sierra Leone and Liberia.
Further discussing humanitarian issues, Tuggar detailed the Ministry’s involvement in evacuating vulnerable infants from Gaza in collaboration with the Red Cross and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. Through diplomatic channels, Nigeria successfully coordinated the transfer of these infants to hospitals in neighboring countries such as Jordan and the UAE.
