INS Tushil, the Indian Navy’s latest stealth frigate, has concluded its inaugural visit to Dakar, Senegal, to foster bilateral relations. The visit featured high-level discussions on naval cooperation, a Subject Matter Expert Exchange, and a Passage Exercise with Senegalese naval forces. It emphasized the importance of regional security initiatives and enhanced interoperability between the two navies.
The Indian Navy’s guided missile stealth frigate, INS Tushil, has successfully completed its first port visit to Dakar, Senegal, aimed at bolstering bilateral relations. During its three-day stop, Captain Peter Varghese met with Rear Admiral Abdou Sene, the Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Navy, focusing on enhancing naval cooperation and maritime security initiatives.
The visit featured a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) and showcased the Indian Navy’s NISHAR – MITRA terminal. Additionally, Navy personnel participated in a joint Yoga session with the Yoga Association of Senegal. Approximately 150 visitors from the Indian diaspora and the local community toured the ship, underscoring the expanding presence of the Indian Navy in the region.
As a conclusion to its visit, INS Tushil conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Senegalese naval vessel, PHM Niani, before departing. This visit is significant, reinforcing the cooperative efforts in enhancing regional security and improving operational interoperability between both navies.
The successful visit of INS Tushil to Dakar, Senegal, underscores the Indian Navy’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations through naval cooperation.
