Ahead of the event’s official launch by President William Ruto, cars will embark on a Super Special Stage in Kasarani, then travel to Naivasha, Nakuru County. Participants will navigate a grueling 384 competitive kilometers, the longest distance of the year, which includes demanding roads, deep water crossings, and sections requiring speed.

Key modifications include:
1. Snorkel: A raised air intake crucial for engine performance during deep water crossings, preventing water ingestion that could stall the engines.
2. Taller, tougher suspension: The cars are equipped with higher suspension to withstand the relentless undulations, sharp ruts, and large rocks found in the rally, balancing clearance and stability for optimal speed.
3. Fine-tuned for high-altitude: Given that Naivasha is at high altitude, engine maps are adjusted to counteract reduced power from thinner air, as every ounce of power is vital on Kenya’s stunning plains.

The event has attracted 39 drivers globally and is expected to be viewed by over 85 million people, with an anticipated 100,000 fans attending in Naivasha.

Major car brands participating include Toyota, Hyundai, and Ford. Hyundai aims to end Toyota’s undefeated streak in the Safari since 2021, led by drivers Thierry Neuville, Ott Tänak, and Adrien Fourmaux with the i20 N Rally1. The M-Sport Ford team fields three Puma Rally1 cars, while reigning WRC2 champion Oliver Solberg competes in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, joined by newcomer Kajetan Kajetanowicz in a similar vehicle.

The Safari Rally Kenya showcases unique modifications to rally cars, primarily to adapt to the extreme conditions of this challenging event.
