On March 19, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah visited the Kuwait Disabled Sport Club (KDSC) alongside key state officials, including the Crown Prince and Acting Prime Minister. They were welcomed by the Minister of Information and Culture and the KDSC Chairman. In his address, His Highness sent Ramadan wishes and expressed the state’s ongoing support for individuals with disabilities, calling them heroes who inspire the nation.
His Highness emphasized Kuwait’s pioneering role in supporting people with disabilities through healthcare, education, and sports. He acknowledged the legislation that guarantees a dignified existence for them. He also praised the efforts of state entities to enhance the skills of disabled athletes by working with regional and global organizations, referencing the impact of the public awareness forum “Caring for you is our goal.”
During the visit, His Highness highlighted the achievements of Kuwaiti athletes with disabilities in recent international competitions, encouraging continued training and skill improvement. Shafi Al-Hajeri, Chairman of KDSC, noted the remarkable growth in the number of athletes representing Kuwait at the Paralympics, from 30 to 350 over 45 years, and celebrated their successes in upcoming events like the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
In a subsequent visit, His Highness attended the Kuwait Blind Association (KBA) gathering, where he acknowledged their contributions to supporting individuals with visual impairments. He commended the association’s initiatives, including the first Al-Baghli Holy Quran Competition for the Blind at a GCC level, emphasizing the need for both public and private sectors to assist these individuals with modern technology.
Fayiz Al-Azmi, Chairman of the KBA, expressed gratitude for His Highness’s visit and congratulated him on Ramadan, underscoring the historical significance of such humanitarian visits in Kuwait.
