Following the attack, it was confirmed by two senior officials that President Mohamud was unharmed. Presidential advisor Zakariye Hussein reported on X that the President was “good and well on his way to the front lines.” Eyewitnesses confirmed that the convoy was struck, with reports of at least four fatalities near the presidential palace.
Al Shabaab, linked to al-Qaeda, declared that their fighters specifically targeted Mohamud’s convoy as it departed the presidential palace for the airport.
