During her address, Mrs. Boluarte emphasized that investing in these projects could significantly contribute to the nation’s safety. She specifically pointed out the construction and enhancement of prisons, police stations, and technological resources for crime prevention and investigations.
She outlined key projects including a new prison in the Cusco region, improvements in Challapalca Prison, and advancements in Lurigancho Prison’s infrastructure. Additionally, the plan proposes enhanced security systems, video surveillance, and the acquisition of patrol vehicles.
“Everything contributes to building a safer Peru; besides, the public and private sectors can and must come together to achieve it,” Mrs. Boluarte remarked, highlighting past collaboration on safety initiatives.
The President asserted that the Works for Taxes scheme ensures transparency while enhancing the government’s fight against crime, particularly through successful captures of criminal organizations which have been moved to Challapalca Prison.
She introduced the “Alliance for Security” to address ongoing public safety challenges. Boluarte mentioned that tangible results of her administration’s actions would soon be shared, indicating improvements over prior government efforts.
Furthermore, she encouraged the public to reject violence and disruption such as road blockades, viewing these actions as detrimental to national progress.
In her proposal to strengthen law enforcement, Mrs. Boluarte suggested implementing the death penalty for hitmen and severe criminals, urging a serious political discussion on this matter. The presentation event took place at the Government Palace in Lima, attended by business leaders and state ministers.
President Boluarte’s initiative seeks to rally the business sector’s financial support for crucial security projects aimed at combating crime in Peru. Her call for unity mirrors an attempt to strengthen public trust and enhance safety through collaborative efforts. The proposed policies, including the potential for the death penalty, indicate a firm stance against violent crime. The initiative represents a critical step in promoting national investment and stability as Peru confronts its security challenges.
