Nigeria’s Economy on Path to Growth, Urges Unity Amid Ramadan Reflection

Vice-President Kashim Shettima asserts Nigeria’s economy is on a path to sustained growth, urging national unity. He expresses confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, encouraging lawmakers to build partnerships for nation-building during Ramadan. Vice-President Kashim Shettima stated that Nigeria’s economy has made significant progress and is now positioned for sustained growth. During an Iftar event hosted by President Bola Tinubu, Shettima urged national unity and development over partisan politics, emphasizing the need for the National Assembly to work collectively.

He praised President Tinubu’s leadership as visionary and inclusive, encouraging lawmakers to embrace their responsibilities and work toward building a better Nigeria. “The economy has turned the corner… we are now on the path to sustained economic growth,” he emphasized.

Shettima called for reflection during Ramadan and the Lenten season, highlighting the importance of choosing collaboration and dialogue over conflict. He reiterated that stability is crucial for development, stating, “There can be no development without peace, and there can be no peace without development.”

In his remarks, House Speaker Hon. Tajudeen Abbas acknowledged President Tinubu’s support and stressed the significance of reflection during Ramadan. He encouraged both Christians and Muslims to pray for Nigeria and its leaders, affirming that the Tinubu administration has made notable achievements in its two years.

To support humanitarian efforts, the Speaker announced a contribution of Seven Hundred and Five Million Naira from the House, representing a 50% salary deduction to aid vulnerable communities. This initiative underscores the commitment of the House to support citizens in need and to advance the government’s goals for national improvement.
