Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, Zhang Lizhong, held a press briefing on March 12th discussing the “Two Sessions,” highlighting 2024’s economic achievements and 2025 goals. He noted China’s significant global economic contribution and emphasized strengthened China-Uganda relations and cooperation with Global South countries.
On March 12th, Ambassador Zhang Lizhong conducted a media briefing regarding the “Two Sessions,” where he discussed key conference themes and responded to journalist inquiries. Major media outlets including Xinhua News Agency, New Vision, Daily Monitor, and Uganda Broadcasting Corporation were present to cover the event.
During the briefing, Ambassador Zhang emphasized China’s notable achievements in high-quality development for 2024 and outlined aspirations for 2025. He reported that China’s economy is experiencing a positive rebound, contributing about 30% to global economic growth in the past year, reinforcing China’s role as a key engine in the global economy.
Zhang mentioned that the Chinese government has set a growth target of around 5%, reflecting confidence in a favorable long-term economic perspective and a proactive approach to addressing challenges. He further indicated that, under the strategic direction of leaders from China and Africa, relations between China and Africa have significantly improved, with China-Uganda ties reaching unprecedented levels.
He expressed China’s readiness to enhance cooperation with Uganda and other Global South nations to protect shared interests and to improve the representation of developing countries in global governance.
