The Raisina Dialogue is focusing on U.S. trade policies, global order, and conflicts, featuring over 120 country representatives. Discussions include strengthening India-New Zealand relations and resuming FTA negotiations, highlighting significant geopolitical and economic topics.
The 10th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, organized by India’s external affairs ministry and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), will draw representatives from over 120 countries. The conference will primarily focus on the impacts of U.S. trade and security policies under the Trump administration, the evolving global order, and ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the West Asian region.
High-profile attendees, including foreign ministers from around 20 nations such as Ukraine, the Maldives, and Sweden, will participate. This year’s theme, “Kālachakra – People, Peace and Planet,” encompasses six important pillars: Politics Interrupted, Resolving the Green Trilemma, Digital Planet, Militant Mercantilism, The Tiger’s Tale, and Investing in Peace.
During the event, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to strengthen bilateral relations. The discussions indicate a commitment to boost ties across various sectors, reflecting the historic partnership between India and New Zealand.
A meeting between both countries’ commerce ministers has also led to the resumption of negotiations for a mutually beneficial free trade agreement (FTA). Prime Minister Luxon emphasized the importance of enhancing economic links, securing trade deals, and fostering security collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region.
In the last fiscal year, India-New Zealand trade was valued at $1.75 billion, marking significant economic engagement between the two nations as they look to expand cooperation further.
The Raisina Dialogue serves as a crucial platform to explore significant geopolitical and economic issues, including U.S. trade policies, the changing global order, and international conflicts. The participation of diverse nations underscores the event’s importance. Enhanced bilateral relations between India and New Zealand, alongside the pursuit of an FTA, signify a commitment to deepen economic cooperation in dynamic global conditions.
