Kenyans Shine at the 2025 Sands China Macao International 10K Race

At the 2025 Sands China Macao International 10K race, Kenya’s Betty Sigei and Vincent Kibet Langat triumphed in the women’s and men’s categories, respectively, both setting new race records. Local athletes Hoi Long and Wang Kun won the resident titles, continuing their previous year’s success. Competitive cash prizes were awarded to top finishers.

Betty Sigei of Kenya defended her title at the 2025 Sands China Macao International 10K race, winning the women’s division with a record time of 31 minutes and 23 seconds. She outperformed fellow Kenyans Cintia Chepngeno and Daisilah Jerono, highlighting her dominance in the event.

In the men’s category, Kenya’s Vincent Kibet Langat claimed victory, setting a new record of 28 minutes and 7 seconds. Teresa Nyakola Gela from Ethiopia finished second, followed closely by Kenyan runner Harrison Wanjiru, underscoring a competitive field.

In the Macao residents competition, Hoi Long and Wang Kun took home the women’s and men’s titles, respectively, both having performed exceptionally in 2024 as well. Wang established a new local record with a time of 31 minutes and 27 seconds, while Hoi finished in 38 minutes and 42 seconds.

Chao Kin I and Law Kwan Wai rounded out the top three in the Macao women’s category. For the men’s division, Wong Chin Wa and Ip Weng Tou secured second and third places, adding to the local talent on display.

Winners of the 10K race received substantial cash prizes: US$10,000 for first place, with second and third places earning US$5,000 and US$2,500, respectively. The event began at Sai Van Lake Square and concluded at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, marking a successful athletic occasion in Macao.
