Kazakh boxer Nazym Kyzaibay achieved a remarkable feat by winning the 2025 International Boxing Association (IBA) Women’s World Boxing Championships, which took place from March 9 to 16 in Niš, Serbia. Competing in the 48-kilogram category, Kyzaibay triumphed in the final against Russia’s Iuliia Chumgalakova.
Having previously clinched world championship titles in 2014 and 2016, Kyzaibay has become the first athlete from Kazakhstan to earn three world boxing championships. In recognition of her success, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended congratulations and praised the national boxing team’s impressive performance, expressing hopes for further successes.
Kyzaibay’s teammate, Alua Balkibekova, also made headlines by winning her first world title in the 50-kilogram category, defeating China’s Hu Meiyi. Additionally, Aida Abikeyeva contributed to Kazakhstan’s medal haul by securing a third gold in the 63-kilogram final against Thailand’s Thananya Somnuek.
Further achievements included silver medals earned by Viktoriya Grafeyeva in the 60-kilogram category and Natalya Bogdanova in the 70-kilogram category. With a total of five medals, Kazakhstan placed third in the championship rankings, underscoring their competitive prowess in the tournament.
